Meant to reply sooner, BUT LIFE.
Anywa...Hey Matt.

Meant to reply sooner, BUT LIFE.

Anyway, glad I'm not alone here. Series 1 grabbed me immediately and kept me glued through Season 4 whereas I've just seen the first half of the current season and it's just bad bad bad, IMO.

They've lost the secret sauce here but shifting focus where it doesn't belong and by changing the characterization of the doctor and the show itself.

I am just utterly, utterly dismayed right now. I love Smith's work but he's being given garbage to work with and the show is jus not fun, not engaging and not as clever as it was.

They need to counteract this disaster-in-the-making NAO.

And River Song's thing? GROSS.Brad Gallawayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09452185302281177580noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4625171860671748699.post-35288801395941555782011-06-07T18:34:11.396-07:002011-06-07T18:34:11.396-07:00I totally hear you on Dr. Who. Although I had seen...I totally hear you on Dr. Who. Although I had seen some episodes of the pre-reboot series, I started watching the new one with Matt Smith. Since I've gone back and started watching the Eccleston episodes, and man... it's a LOT better.

I actually like Smith as the Doctor, and I find certain isolated episodes of the Moffat era good (The Doctor's Wife, the Christmas Episode, a few others) but it really does feel like it's missing something the Davies era had. The earlier episodes just feel much much more grounded and character-driven. They aren't trying to do too much, to be too epic, like the newer ones do. I'm only three episodes into the first season, and already I care WAY more about the characters than after two seasons of the Moffat series.

Anyway, just wanted to echo your take on the show. Moffat should stick with Sherlock and just let Neil Gaiman write all his Who episodes.Matthew "Sajon" Weisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08379770938858222511noreply@blogger.com
