Over the years, it's been fine to leave a console for a little while without any problems. That's never been the case with cars.

The whole beauty of consoles over PCs (amongst other things) is that you don't have to spend ages tweaking settings carefully, waiting for a game to finish installing and then waiting for the inevitable patch to download and install.

I've had it sometimes with my 360 but never to the extent of the PS3. Patches seem to download much faster (maybe it's a setting somewhere but again, why can't I just plug and play. Why should I have to worry about port forwarding? It's a console!) and install is always optional, ideal as I only use it for a couple of games when I know I'm going to be playing it for a long time.

I like my PS3 very much (although hate the fact that every time I say anything negative about it, I feel I have to end my comment with this disclaimer for fear of retaliation ;)) but it would be really nice if I could play a game without waiting.

I don't fixate on it, I soak up every exclusive whenever possible, but I would like the PS3 to be a bit less needy.

With a console, you really shouldn't have to plan a couple of hours ahead for what you intend to play.

Yours, an owner and lover of all current generation consoles and sufferer of waiting for various MMOs to patch up over the years.Jenhttp://www.halycopter.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4625171860671748699.post-35567763345680160522011-01-15T08:21:42.938-08:002011-01-15T08:21:42.938-08:00>Hezekiah - it doesn't take 90 minutes to j...>Hezekiah - it doesn't take 90 minutes to jump-start a car if a battery dies. = )Brad Gallawayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09452185302281177580noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4625171860671748699.post-8311854954929396372011-01-15T07:32:06.601-08:002011-01-15T07:32:06.601-08:00I am tending toward Hezekiah's view, although ...I am tending toward Hezekiah's view, although the stuff with the Move does sound fishy.Matthew "Sajon" Weisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08379770938858222511noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4625171860671748699.post-29831369539635256772011-01-15T07:14:28.117-08:002011-01-15T07:14:28.117-08:00Then again Hezekiah, it's hard to tell someone...Then again Hezekiah, it's hard to tell someone that they're wrong for being upset that they had to wait 2 hours to play half an hour of content.

That said, I think these kinds of complaints are seen far more often from people who use the PS3 as their secondary console. They seem to really FIXATE on it too! I've personally never experienced much frustration with updates, because I knew to expect them. I suppose it's a choice I make.

Not just on PS3. The same goes for my Xbox 360. I install EVERY game, because I absolutely cannot stand to hear that drive spin. If I didn't have that option, I might never use it at ALL. And I'll never forget installing MechWarrior 4 on PC on Christmas 2000... that thing took an hour if it took five minutes. Four discs, I think?

Last night I played Bioshock 2 for the first time with a friend. About 90 minutes ahead of the appointed time, I got the disc out and began the install and updates. I was ready to go well in advance.

So, ultimately Brad, I don't disagree with the statement of your post, but I think it's up to you to determine how much (and how deeply) this affects you emotionally.

OH, EXCEPT THE GODDAMN PSN GAMES THAT UPDATE THE VERSION BY .01 BY RE-DOWNLOADING THE ENTIRE THING AGAIN IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASE!!!
